Dr. Seng‑Chuan Tan is a distinguished sustainability professional whose career bridges technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and global leadership. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), a Master of Science (Building Science), and a Professional Doctorate in Sustainable Infrastructure and ESG Technology. He is registered in Singapore as a Professional Engineer (Civil) and Chartered Engineer (Sustainability, Environment & Water). He is also accredited as a GHG Lead Verifier by the National Environment Agency, a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, and a Senior Practicing Management Consultant (Sustainability) certified by the Singapore Business Advisors and Consultants Council.

Dr. Tan’s professional expertise spans sustainability, climate change, environmental management, water and wastewater, energy and power, built environment and infrastructure, chemical and petrochemical, oil and gas, and other industrial sectors across the Asia‑Pacific region. As Managing Director of TEMBUSU Asia Consulting Pte Ltd, he leads one of Asia’s foremost environmental and sustainability consultancies, supporting organizations in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. TEMBUSU Asia is accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) and recognized by the Asia Carbon Institute (ACI) as an accredited Validation & Verification Body. Dr. Tan was invited to international standards development, serving on the SAC Working Group for ISO 14064‑2 and participating in frameworks such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG).

Beyond consultancy, Dr. Tan has played a pivotal role in advancing the engineering profession globally. He is Emeritus President of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), having served as President from 2006 to 2008. He was President of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) from 2007 to 2011, Chairman of the APEC Engineers Coordinating Committee, and a member of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) Governing Board from 2015 to 2019. In October 2025, he assumed the presidency of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), where he continues to champion engineering excellence, sustainability, and international collaboration.
